“You belong among the wildflowers.
You belong somewhere close to me.
Far away from your trouble and worry.
You belong somewhere you feel free.”
Gosh I sit here and think what a year, so many people are excited, they believe we are finally “awaking”, look at the silver lining, the world is going into higher consciousness... blah blah blah
But are we actually evolving and becoming better? Truly? Maybe we’ve exposed some things this year but are you better for it? Have you truly evolved?
I see a society that not so long ago was heartbroken over Australian animals burning and suffocating from smoke. They were so torn up, people were truly changing their behaviors to save Earth. Mostly their purchasing behaviors.
A month goes by and now we, the humans, are dying by the masses from a super virus. We went from scaling back our waste to being so scared of each other’s germs in a matter of a month. I mean so scared that we won’t even reuse anything that may have been at risk of exposure and we hoard the things we are scared we might not be produced fast enough for our demands. We are so scared we now live in a world where two sides judge each other on their preference of mask wearing. Each thinking the other just as absurd. Talk about privilege. Yes it is a privilege to afford and wear a mask. In some cases it is a privilege to have a decent health system. In a lot of cases it is a privilege to have access to healthy food and clean water. Privilege to even know what any of the above is.
Meanwhile, we have communities who don’t have the privilege to make arguments over masks because they are addressing the biggest elephant in the room in our American history, actually wait our human history. Discrimination is real and very much alive. Kind of makes me laugh when I think back to my social studies teacher being excited his adopted daughter would never have to deal with her skin color. I laugh because even as a 15 year old white girl, I knew that wasn’t true. That if she wouldn’t be discriminated because of her skin she sure would be because of her anatomy differences. Did you know ever job I’ve held the male counterpart, made at least a dollar more then me if not more? In most cases more was even expected of me. Some of these men even started a year or more after myself. You know what it’s ok you feel white man guilt, because I know every single man I worked with knew he made more, he had just as much of an opportunity to make a difference about it as I did.
So have you evolved? Do you see what I’m seeing, how a new issue is brought to light and we forget the other? Have you noticed that actually they are all connected. If our world is clean, the food we eat, the air we breathe, the ground we walk on and sleep is in harmony with nature then our bodies would also be clean and in harmony too. Taking care of our planet and our food source is a direct reflection of our health. so maybe we should be more concerned about this then developing a vaccine, the vaccine is a bandaid not solution. Now let’s look inward and mind our energy. Our reaction to the world around us has a butterfly effect. Are you aware of your energy and the role it plays in society? We wouldn’t have to live in an environment that we are so scared of each other’s germs or easily exchangeable each other’s energy if we were mindful of our own energy, “germs”. So I sit here wondering those being so vocal about every cause, are they being as vocal about their own internal habits that are in direct opposition to the cause? Maybe once we change the internal then and only then will the external change.
